It's actually possible, I might have watched an interview or some article about it. And the main reason is not just replacing people with robots, it all has to do with consciousness. Your art basically explains the problem. Because if they were to have Theory of Mind and Self-Awareness, they would eventually take over the jobs of today and people might have some problems.
Although not just jobs are the main problem, we would have to think of how many there would be and how they establish. If an A. I was to be created to do one thing and another, they would possibly make newer and better models as themselves. Not sure it's all in theory.

Humanity doesn't even manage to program a really functioning cell phone. Mine always gave up after a maximum of 2 years. So I don't believe in any serious A.I.

That's not because because humanity can't do it, it's because a shit part of humanity just won't. Just deliberately making the software so it won't support the cheap models in roughly 2 years.
Had that with several cheap smartphones as well, mechanically they're still perfectly good to go, but just a couple of updates and it wil slow down almost to a halt, or basic apps will just stop working.
It's called 'planned obsolescence' and it's fuckin bullshit, but it's absolutely real.

If humanity can be that nasty and crafty... I pessimistically believe in some serious AI...
